Biography

Dr. Md Shuayb is a rising star in clinical oncology. He is the only oncologist in the country who has postgraduate degrees both in radiation oncology and in medical oncology.

Dr. Shuayb received his MBBS degree from Sylhet Osmani Medical College, and then completed an MSc degree in “Molecular Medicine and Cancer Research” from Brunel University London, United Kingdom in 2010. In January, 2017 he completed the FCPS degree in Radiotherapy at his first attempt.

Dr. Shuayb passed FRCR Clinical Oncology “First Part” and “Final Part A” Examinations from the Royal College of Radiologists of the United Kingdom. He also passed “Specialty Certificate Examination (SCE) in Medical Oncology” from the Royal College of Physicians of the UK (at his first attempt) and “ESMO Examination in Medical Oncology” from the European Society for Medical Oncology (at his first attempt). At present, he is the only oncologist in Bangladesh who has passed these prestigious Royal College’s examinations of the UK.

Dr. Shuayb is a cancer researcher with significant experience both in clinical research and in molecular research. Apart from his MSc degree in Cancer Research from the UK, he worked for a long time with full scholarship in translational cancer research in Vancouver Prostate Centre, Vancouver General Hospital, University of British Columbia, Canada. He is the only oncologist in Bangladesh with such a long research experience in a centre of excellence in a developed country. He published 12 research papers in peer-reviewed, esteemed European and American journals having high impact factors; all these scholarly articles including the statistical analyses are written solely by him.

Dr. Shuayb received several grants and awards from the ESMO and IASLC, and presented his scientific papers in various international conferences held in Singapore, Hong Kong, Switzerland, Spain, UK, and Canada. He is an active member of RCR (The Royal College of Radiologists of the UK), ESMO (European Society for Medical Oncology), and IASLC (International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer). Dr. Shuayb enjoys updating himself with the latest clinical guidelines and conducting research.
