Breast Cancer

Symptoms

• A small or large lump in the breast
• Change the size shape and appearance of the breast
• Swollen lump node in the neck and underarms
• Inverted nipple, orange-like dimpling
• Nipple retraction or pain
• Redness, thickening of breast skin and nipples
• Swallowing in and around collarbones

Risk factors

• Family history
• Genetic mutation
• Late childbearing
• Early menstruation and late menstruation.
• Obesity/increased breast density
• Prolonged use of contraceptives and HRT therapy
• Alcohol and tobacco intake

Diagnosis

• Full clinical examination
• Bilateral mammography, combined with an ultrasound examination of the breast lesion and axilla
• Core biopsy of suspicious breast lesions
• Ultrasono-guided FNAC of enlarged or abnormal lymph nodes

Treatment

• Simple mastectomy
• Wide excision alone 
• Wide excision and post operative radiotherapy
• Axillary surgery
• Adjuvant chemotherapy 
• Adjuvant endocrine therapy or hormone therapy
• Neoadjuvant therapy
